this week your girl tested (aka played with) three of the products from Dove’s new Go Fresh line. You may have heard about Go Fresh while watching The Hills. In one of last night’s episode’s, Alicia keys co-stars with two other women in an extended-length commercial — what Dove calls a micro-series.

The three Go Fresh Fragrances

Refresh: water lily and fresh mint

Cool Moisture: cucumber and green tea

Energize: grapefruit and lemongrass

Far and away, Energize took the cake as my favorite of the Go Fresh fragrances. Dove describes it as “grapefruit and lemongrass.” I could have sworn I picked up more orange, lemon, baby powder and soap, but still — it’s a wonderful scent.

In the interest of beauty science, I road tested three of the Go Fresh family products in the Energize scent last night before and after dance class — ultimate clear invisible solid deodorant, beauty Body wash and the Body Mist. In hindsight, it may not have been a terrific idea to nighttime test a so-called energizing product, but I expected to be up late anyway (TV time).

Ultimate clear invisible Solid: I swiped a layer under my arms right before heading to hip hop class last night. Forty-five minutes into the class, after buckets of sweat, I gave my armpits a good whiff (on the D.L., hello!), and I still smelled fresh. All throughout class and on the drive home, ultimate clear was going strong. I burst through the door and gave El Hub a big, sweaty hug. Beauty Body Wash: later last night, knowing I still had to watch two episodes of The Hills before bed, I hit the shower with my bottle of beauty Body wash in Energize, the same nice, citrusy fragrance as the deodorant. I went to town workin’ its lil’ exfoliating beads. harsh exfoliating scrubs tear my skin up, but beauty Body wash felt gentle and non-abrasive. get this: the formula contains a touch of menthol (just a touch), which gives it a little kick. Smartly, Dove skipped the menthol in the deodorant. thank ye gods! beauty Body wash isn’t quite as moisturizing as Dove’s Ultra rich cream Oil Body Wash, but it should get the job done through spring and summer. makeup and beauty blog Rating: B+

Body Mist: I toweled off and spritzed on a little of the Body Mist. same energizing scent as the deodorant and body wash, so I should have been sufficiently energized for hours of reality TV watching, and I was.

In the future, I’ll use the body mist sparingly because despite the bottle claiming it contains a hint of moisturizer, the first listed ingredient is alcohol. Um, not the best moisturizer. Tis’ still a fun, light scent, though, and I’ll keep it handy for days (or nights) when I need a boost. makeup and beauty blog Rating: B-

Work’s still crazy (hence the late post), but I had a wonderful Tuesday! The neighbor’s tabby stopped by and kicked it old school with me this morning. He even sat on my lap while I wrote (how precious!). In the afternoon, I got a nice e-mail from my good friend, J-Money, who’s getting married later this year. I’m gonna be the matron of honor. I’m stoked about it, but the word “matron” makes me feel, well, matronly. I love weddings, though, and I’ve known J-Money since childhood, so I can’t wait! Plus, it’s in Florida, which gives me a good excuse to go surfing when I’m not performing my matronly duties.
